Dave Smith is a self-taught saddle maker. He is the son-in-law of Ron and Lorna Silvester (co-founders of TLRM). Dave learned to make saddles out of necessity—he needed one for his job as a pasture rider. That one saddle led to a couple orders from family and has progressed into a part-time business.

Each saddle is built on a ‘Rod Nikkel’ tree which is custom hand-crafted to the customer’s specifications.

A quality saddle starts with a quality tree.
